A quick glance at the 1704 and you might think it was a standard shoulder bag. But take a closer look and you'll find a built-in padded laptop sleeve fixed inside the main compartment, suitable for computers up to 15 inches. There is a space behind the pouch and plenty of room in front for books and files with a large buckle to close the flap. As well as this there is a zippered pocket underneath the flap for your cables and accessories.

	This bag is great. Most durable, best looking bag I have ever owned. I would by one in each colour if I could.

	This does make a good general purpose bag. Roomy and waterproof, but if your looking at this bag for serious bike commuting or messengering i'd look elswhere.

	I love the bag. My only complaint about it is its flap cover doesn't cover the whole bag when wearing it. I got this bag mainly because I could fit my laptop in it and I wanted to be able to shelter it from the rain, since I live up north. When the flap is closed and you're wearing it, since the bag is big, the sides jut out making holes. But I would purchase another portage bag in the future.

it's the most durable bag i've ever owned, and i've had many north face and l.l. bean bags. i wish the main flap and the shoulder strap were designed more in conjuction with each other. i carry books and a computer in the bag, most of the time, and when i travel with it through incliment weather, i worry that the contents of the bag will get wet, as the design of where the strap is sewn to the bag restricts the flap from completely covering the opening of the bag. no other problems, though. i love the bag, and would buy it again.
