Finally!
I have been searching for a very long time for the perfect laptop back pack. After reading reviews of the Trager Intercontinental, I shelled out a lot of money! What a disappointment! It was too small and all the pockets were not secure.
The Targus Elite has everything at half the price! The first thing I noticed after picking it up was the thickness and plushness of the shoulder straps. They, along with the back of the pack, have that netting stuff that keeps the bag cool on your back and it is VERY comfortable. My bag routinely weighs 20 pounds and never feels unbearable. I don't even have it stuffed completely like it could be.
The cushions for the laptop are the best I've seen. There are two cusions at the bottom and one on either side of the laptop pouch that are about an inch thick. It will fit a Dell 8100 because there is an elastic strap to keep the laptop in. It sticks out a little bit at the top but nothing major. My friend has the Dell 8100 that I tried but I have a 15" laptop which fits perfectly.
One of the things I like the best is the fact that you can fit an extra battery and power pack in the bottom of the bag to where every thing sits on top of them. All of the accessories fit perfectly along with a few thick Java books. I travel every week and use the Bose Headphones which also fit easily in the front pocket along with an extra mouse and an umbrella. Other accessories in my bag include an external 2.5" hard drive with cable, 7' ethernet cable, 25' retractable phone cord.
There are pockets everywhere. They even have pockets where the straps are connected to the bag! Every inch of space can be utilized.
The only issue is that because the shoulder straps kind of flare out, it feels like the bag is about to slip of my shoulders but doesn't. If you have narrow shoulders, this bag may not be right for you. But, this is the ONLY complaint I have about the bag. I wear a 42 Long jacket so I don't have really narrow shoulders. The other thing is that it doesn't have a little clip on a strap for your car keys like other bags I've used. But there are so many pockets, I'll get used to it.
I don't use it, but it has a pouch for your cell phone that attaches to the straps. Also, one of the pockets on the side has a small hole that headphones would fit through if you have an MP3 player, a cell phone or a small radio.
After looking for several weeks, I'm glad my journey is finally over. |
